Secretary's Report ------------------ - Checked mail. - Received cheque for $150 from the medical students society for hire of the SMS screen. Fresher Rep's Report -------------------- - Not here. Desktops: - apollo's hard disk has been replaced, requires the OS to be reinstalled (thanks [MRD]) - sacrilege still not working, is having weird problems. - [CJS] to bring in live CD to diagnose fault with sacrilege. Appliances: - One of the air cons was defrosted earlier in the week. - The heat in the machine room took martello down briefly. - The aircon does this occasionally and appears to be coping OK, although it would still be nice to have a backup. - Can crusher is broken. - See item in General Business for action relevant to this item. New Equipment: - [CHZ]'s "vile, contemptuous Dells": - Would be useful for use as SMS screen. - Vote to acquire 1 of the Dells from [CHZ] for $250: All for. Mail, Guild and SOC ------------------- - [M12] attended SOC meeting, nothing of note was discussed. - Received one item in mail, see Secretary's report for more information. Action Items ------------ - [M12] to contact UWA Security to report theft of Wii. - Done, UWA Security has offered to deal with the police on our behalf. - [M12] to attend SOC meeting. - Done. - [RVS] to buy toner for phosphorous. - Done, thanks [DAA]. - We now have two spare toners. - [LOL] to email Guild about the broken door in Cameron Hall - Done. - [CJS] to add 2009 membership forms to the database. - In progress. - [DAA] to fix UCC member DB. General Business ---------------- - [ROW] : Refer Camden to the guild regarding the unfathomable violence perpertrated against the CH locks, resulting in their mortal destruction. Advise guild that he is the one responsible. - It has been discovered that Camden was not the one who broke the locks. - [ROW] : Need to get on top of FM regarding new locks. If something is not set in motion within 1 week, [ROW] will either remove his equipment from UCC until locks are replaced, or replace locks himself (lol guild) - Email has been sent regarding this, see President's report. - [ROW] : Warhammer 40,000 style inquistion is required to keep clubroom clean. Suggest door members bin unattended drinks (after, say, 5 mins). - See door policy for current policy regarding this item. - [CHZ] : Please buy my vile, contemptuous Dell's. PS I can't attend due to work committments, sorry. - See New Equipment for action relevant to this item. - [ROW] : Chair throwing to be a doorable offense. - Refer to door group policy for information about what is a doorable offense. - [ROW] : Anger to be a doorable offense. - Refer to door group policy for information about what is a doorable offense. - [ROW] : negative emotions to be a doorable offense. - Refer to door group policy for information about what is a doorable offense. - [ROW] : Cupboard outside needs to be fixed. - [M12] has contacted guild regarding this, still waiting for action from them. - [ROW] : Running low on snax! - See drinks and Snacks section for action relating to this item. - [ROW] : Table in the middle of the room seems ok, do we want to keep it AND the coffee table, or remove one to create more space? - Nobody objects to having both in the room. - [ROW] : Tool cupboard is pretty messy, would be good to clean it up/throw out crap. - [AHC] has kindly started sorting some of the components. If it remains untidy, we will clean it up at the next Clean Up. - [ROW] : we have alot on our bookshelves, some of which surely is no longer relevant/worthless. While it's impoartant to keep alot of stuff, surely we can distill it down so it all fits on the shelves, rather than stacking it several feet above them. - We will look into this at the next appropriate time, ie the next Clean Up. - [ROW] : I hereby offer UCC some new optical mice. We can either have a large number of ex-office ones (crappy), or a smaller number of pretty good ones. - Nobody is opposed to acquiring a smaller number of good mice in favor of a large number of bad mice. - [ROW] : suggest allowing members to use desktop speakers on the weekends. - Only on weekends may door members use their discretion to allow the use of speakers. - [ROW] : Can we plan another LAN, given the failure of the previous LAN. - Tentative plans to hold another UCC LAN on 4th July (Independance LAN?). - [ROW] : Machine room aircon broke down/iced up. Worrying, perhaps someone should look into it. - See Appliances report for discussion relating to this item. - [ROW] : any information on semester 2 grants? - See Treasurer's report and New Action Items for action relating to this item. - [ROW] : Sacrilige still is not booting. Somebody needs to test it, finds out which drives work, which ones do not. Save what they can, reinstall windows and get it working again. Given the significance of the machine, this is very important, it needs to be done ASAP. If new HDDs are required, I would be happy to supply them. - See Desktops report for action relating to this item. - [ROW] : UCC should conduct a fire drill, to my knowledge, we haven't done one before. - As specified by door group policy, in the event of a fire, door members are in charge of ensuring all members vacate the clubroom, and in putting out the fire if it is safe to do so. - The UCC also effectively conducts a fire drill whenever someone in the Tav or Refectory activates a fire alarm, which occurs roughly twice a year, we are pretty good when it comes to fire safety. - [FEL] : Can the club buy a pair of Helping Hands. - [RVS] to bring in his Helping Hands. - [CJS] : can crusher. - Can crusher is broken. - [DAA] to fix can crusher. - [FEL] (via email to committee-only) : Complaint about [ROW]. - [ROW] became angry while playing Team Fortress 2 and threw one of UCC's chairs against the floor near the shelves/door. - [FEL] was disturbed by this and left the room. - [FEL] reports that he has seen this kind of action by [ROW] several times before. - [DAA] moves to remove [ROW] from door group based on breaches of the accepted expectations of door group policy, [LOL] seconds. 2 for, 3 abstain; motion passed. - [RVS] moves to remove [FEL] from door group since he should have acted as a member of door group to door [ROW] if he thought he was misbehaving, nobody seconds; motion failed. New Action Items ---------------- - [RVS] to check if we have been charged directly for Tav hire. - [CJS] to bring in live CD to diagnose fault with sacrilege. - [CJS] to go on snack run. - [DAA] to fix UCC member DB. - [SJY] to check if Semester 2 grants have been sent. - [DAA] to fix can crusher. Items of General Business Postponed Until Next Meeting ------------------------------------------------------ - [ROW] : The 3 key on the snack machine has an insane repeat rate, you quite litteraly have to flick it to get it to register only once. Is this a hardware issue or can we actually do something about it? - [ROW] : Apollo still will not boot. - [ROW] : Would like to toss the idea of a windows server about. Suggest using it as a media repository where members would be able to upload media, which would then be viewable on the TV. Obviously said media would be owned by said member. Licencing of said server might be an issue, but microsoft are actually pretty good when it comes to licences for students. Worth a look. - [ROW] : As we know, the Wii was stolen, likely by a member of the club/someone who has come in here before. Legal issues aside, it does raise a serious question about clubroom security, specifically access decending unto the tool cupboard. A serious discussion regarding this is required, something MUST be done about improving clubroom security. - [ROW] : [CHZ] suggesting running more tav-based events for the club. They would purely be social events, and could serve to raise us a bit of money. His idea was to do a battle of the bands style competition with Rock Band, in the tav. Ideas? - [ROW] : [AHC] has kindly sorted out a large number of electrical components into containers for us. Suggest we set aside an area to store these, providing members easy access to them if they wish to use them to work on projects. - [ROW] : Suggest a secure area for drinks and snax. - [ROW] : While not a ucc-specific thing, if unigames was to move into UDS's current clubroom (kicking them out, they never use it), UCC could then annex unigames current room as a machine room. We already have a door between the two rooms, which would provide access. We would then be able to remove the current machine room. This would be fantastic for the club. Don't pass this off as something that can't be done, we should at least look into it. - [ROW] : Does UCC have a Swine Flu action plan? Will we admit members to the room who display symptoms of Swine Flu? Meeting closed at 17:17 --- Meeting minutes are also available at http://ucc.asn.au/infobase/minutes/
